Getting Started

What is StoryRetriever?
StoryRetriever is a tool for creating visual social narratives — illustrated stories that prepare children with autism, developmental delays, or communication challenges for upcoming situations or teach social skills.
How do I create my first story?
Tap the + button on your dashboard, choose a blank story or template, and follow the prompts.
What is a visual social narrative?
A short illustrated story with pictures and text that helps children understand and prepare for real-world situations.

Accounts & Plans

What is included in the free plan?
One story, full access to images and backgrounds, one child profile, and up to 3 professional connections.
How do I upgrade my plan?
Go to Settings → Subscription to view plan options and pricing.
I have a beta access code — how do I use it?
Go to Settings → Subscription, scroll to the Promo Code section, and enter your code.

Sharing & Connections

How do I share a story with a family?
Open the story, tap the Share button, and enter the family's email or connection code.
How do I connect with a professional?
Go to Settings → Connections → Connect with a Professional.
What is the difference between view and edit permissions?
View allows reading the story only. Edit allows the recipient to make changes to the story content.

Stories & Templates

How do I use a template?
Browse Templates from the menu, find a template, and tap Use Template to create your own personalized story from it.
What is Fill-in-Blank?
Placeholders in templates (like a child's name or age) that automatically fill in with the right details when a family uses the template.
How do I duplicate a story?
Open the story editor, tap the ··· menu, and select Duplicate Story.

Offline & Devices

Does StoryRetriever work offline?
Yes. Download stories in Settings → General → Offline Storage to access them without an internet connection.
How do I download a story for offline use?
Open the story and tap the download icon, or manage downloads in Settings → General → Offline Storage.
